Information Technology Empowerment Center

The Information Technology Empowerment Center (ITEC) is a nonprofit collaboration among MSU, local schools, the technology sector, and community and government organizations. ITEC develops and offers free or low-cost programs designed to encourage kids' interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Located in the former Holmes Street School in Lansing, ITEC connects underserved populations with local access to computers and high-speed Internet, while providing valuable technology skills to prepare kids to succeed in a high-tech economy. ITEC offers programs on Saturdays, after school, and during the summer.

Current ITEC programs include:

  • Alice 3-D Graphical Programming
  • Digital Media Arts
  • MATLAB
  • Lego Robotics
  • Scratch
  • CS Unplugged
  • Science of Game Design
  • Technological Independence
